A striking cork backed placemat featuring a beautiful Rimu and Kohekohe illustrated design on a black background NZ artist Tanya Wolfkamp. The Rimu is a New Zealand native conifer found growing throughout the country. The Maori name Rimu comes from the Polynesian term 'limu' (edible seaweeds) which the foliage reminded peole of. The Kohekohe, another NZ native tree, is found in coastal and lowland forests of the North island and Marborough Sounds. It is fairly close relative of true mahogany. It has large glossy leaves, sweet smelling flowers and produces fruit containing seeds encased in a fleshy orange covering. A matching coaster is also available. These coasters and placemats will look good in any home and make great house warming gifts!! Sold individually.
