A beautiful cork backed coaster featuring an illustyated screenprint Tauhou design by NZ artist Tanya Wolfkamp. Tauhou is the Maori name for the silver-eye and means stranger. It is a cute little green bird with white rings round it's eyes. The tauhou was first recorded in New Zealand in 1932 but arrived in larger numbers in 1856, presumable caught by a storm during migration that diverted then here.
