A striking cork backed coaster featuring a beautiful Kauri and Rata illustrated design on a black background by NZ artist Tanya Wolfcamp. The Kauri is a New Zealand native tree found in the northern region of the North island. It is the second largest tree in the world by trunk volume and grow to a height of 30-40 meters. They are a type of conifer so reproduce by producing cones. Their numbers have been severely reduced since European settlement. The Rata trees have glossy dark green leaves and are best known for thier brilliant red flowers which appear from November to January. They tend to flower only once every few years. A matching placemat is also available. These placemats and coasters will look good in any home make a great house warming gift!!  Sold individually.
